The story of Bryan

I realized today as I was looking at my blog that I just didn't really mention Bryan too much while we were dating and then all of a sudden we were engaged!! Well, it didn't really happen that fast. I was just being cautious about posting pics and info until he was a sure thing... He's a pretty sure thing now so I figured I'm safe to tell all about him and I. PLUS, it's his BIRTHDAY today!!

Flash back to Fall 2011. My friend Sarah and I met my parents in Hawaii. This is important because on this trip Sarah and I decided we were going to be SOCIAL. Go to every party, ward activity, FHE, etc. We were determined to meet as many people (men) as we could. So we took the red eye home from Hawaii Saturday night, then drove ALL day Sunday back to SLC on Sunday night because we had to work the next morning. This is also important to mention because we were EXHAUSTED on Monday!!! BUT...it was Halloween...and there was a party...LOTS of parties and we promised each other we were going to be more social. Sarah borrowed my little Indian-girl costume and wore my Morton Salt-girl costume and despite being really tired we met some friends and drove to the Salt Lake Institute Halloween party.

Let me just say it was a successful night. I think we gave our numbers to 5 or 6 different groups of guys. The best part was that we couldn't remember all their names but we could remember what costumes they were wearing. There was a pair of brothers dressed as old fashioned bar tenders, there was a group of guys who all dressed as a different colored tropical bird (all homeade costumes and they were hilarious and amazing!), and there was a couple of guys dressed as dirty, drunken Mexicans- with ponchos and sombreros, root beer bottles and cigarettes...This was Bryan. He was with his best friend who is also named Bryan... So the Bryans' met the Sara(h)s' on Halloween and we all exchanged numbers. My favorite memory of the night was that ANOTHER group of guys were dressed as a mariachi band. Legit with guitars and singing. At one point of the night this mariachi band started singing up on the stairs for all to see and the Bryans' ran up and started singing along, they didn't know the tune or the words but they just sang as loud as they could. I thought it was the funniest thing I had ever seen. It reminded me of that scene in Nacho Libre when Jack Black joins the mariachi band to get into the party and makes up a song. Anyways...that was when I first talked to Bryan.
That is how we met. I wasn't thinking too seriously about him becuase he was so much younger than me but I do remember telling Sarah that if I let myself, I could really fall hard for this kid. Well I did.

I wish I could tell every funny story about him and the funny things that he says but I'm not a good enough writer to do his comedy justice. I try to write them down so I can look back and remember them often. I will write about something that happened just last night because it was a sweet moment and I want everyone to know what a sweet, thoughtful person he is, even when marriage has little "bumps."

We were having a little "bump" last night. It was because of me completely. One of my bad habbits was causing a problem and Bryan was so sweetly bringing it to my attention. I felt horrible and embarrased and mad and in all of my silly tears and sobs Bryan is trying to comfort me and tell me it's ok, it's not a big deal but I just felt awful. Then he said something that just stopped me in my tracks. It was one of those moments. I felt like a wave swept over me and I fell even more deeply in love with him. As he was hugging me he pulled away and looked at me and asked "Do you want to pick something for ME to work on? Something you think I need to improve? Then we can both work on them together?" He felt so bad that he was pointing out one of my (many) flaws and wanted to even things out by suggesting that he had things he needed to improve also.

At that point we were VERY late for an activity and people were waiting for us.  Bryan continued to be the sweetest man on the planet and tell them it was his fault we were late. Do you see how great he is?

He is great! Perfect for you. And thanks for your honesty. We all have little "bumps" in our marriages. It's what you learn from them that counts, I think. :)
