Disney was a smart man
For some reason I have never LOVED Disneyland. I went as a child once or twice and then a few times since then and for some reason I don't have fond memories of those experiences, it could have been that I don't like crowds of people or that mom didn't buy me that parasol I wanted on one of our trips (it's ok mom, clearly I've forgotten about it) but nevertheless, Disneyland has never been my amusement park of choice. However, recently I have had a desire to give D-land another try. I think it all started when Janae (my brother's wife) 's uncle told me that he had access to free tickets because he owns a hotel close to Disneyland and let him know if I ever wanted to go. This meant that even if I hated it, at least I didn't pay for it, right? So I planned a trip with some friends, all of whom were not able to go except one, my friend Derek.
Funniest ride ever. Jungle cruise, do it.
Here is what I learned:
1. IF you do go to Disneyland, go with someone who lived 20 min away from D-land all his life and can show you the coolest stuff to do (thanks Derek)
2. Get free tickets
3. Don't go during spring break season
4. Fewer number of people in your group = faster wait times and less confusion about what to do next
5. Eat a caramel apple
6. Go to California Adventure and go on Tower of Terror and Soaring over California
7. GO SEE TURTLE TALK WITH CRUSH!!!! in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot (California Advenure) SO FUNNY!!! And check out the Toy Story 2 display.
Overall, it can be a fun, magical place in the right conditions and maybe I'll go again in another 10 years.
